A predictable rhythmic routine for each session allows the young child a sense of grounded peace. On this foundation, they feel free to be curious, create, explore and try new things. The program arc is designed so that periods of teacher-led focus are followed by child-initiated periods of expansion with free play and movement. This breathing quality balances the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, allowing the children to sustain engagement as well as the time to fully digest their experiences.
The young child is constantly learning through absorption and imitation. Everything in the surrounding environment is therefore intentional, including the teacher as a role model, so that what the child takes in can be expressed freely in their own behavior and play.
We attend to the children's social interactions and engagement with their world, and may gently facilitate, but care is taken not to interrupt unnecessarily. While healthy, clear boundaries are important, every moment is a learning experience. The child's innate wisdom often leads them to experience what they need most at that particular stage of their development. The teacher constantly attunes to the children to deepen their learning and healthy growth.
